For quite some time now, NBA games featuring the Milwaukee Bucks have been aired regionally by Bally Sports. As it stands, the agreement is slated to continue as a new deal will give the latter an extension in broadcasting the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led team and their matches in the league.
In a significant development for Bucks fans, it has been announced that the team’s games will continue to be televised on Bally Sports during the 2024-25 season. This is due to a deal between Diamond Sports Group, the owner of Bally Sports, and the league.
The new agreements cover both linear and direct-to-consumer rights for the NBA and NHL teams. This includes Milwaukee, as well as the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, and San Antonio Spurs.
On the NHL side, the affected teams are the Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Milwaukee Bucks’ NBA Games Next Season To Be Broadcasted By Bally Sports
Diamond Sports Group’s CEO, David Preschlack, expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration and long-term partnerships with these leagues, as seen in an article written by Cody Smith for Sports Illustrated.
“We are appreciative of the ongoing collaboration and long-term partnerships with the NBA and NHL,” David Preschlack, Diamond’s CEO, said in a statement. “These new agreements that cover NBA and NHL linear and (direct-to-consumer) rights are another major milestone and continue Diamond’s momentum toward emergence, which will enable us to provide value for our NBA and NHL partners and continue to serve dedicated local NBA, NHL and MLB fans.”
Just recently, Amazon has reportedly decided to not invest the planned $115 million in the bankrupt regional sports network operator Diamond Sports Group. This move comes after Amazon secured its own rights deals with the two sports leagues, reducing the need for a Bally Sports investment. Diamond Sports is still working to emerge from Chapter 11 restructuring.
While Amazon may not be a part of Diamond Sports Group, Bally Sports is still there to cover basketball games featuring the the Antetokounmpo-led squad. In any case, Milwaukee Fans will still get their usual dose of basketball action throughout the 2024-25 season.
