During his time in the NBA, All-Star guard Michael Redd was mostly known for his stint with the Milwaukee Bucks. Just recently, though, the Olympic gold medalist shared what went down before he played his rookie season in the league.
Redd spent the majority of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks. Drafted in the 2nd round of the 2000 NBA Draft, He initially struggled to earn minutes behind All-Star Ray Allen. However, he eventually carved out a significant role, becoming a consistent scorer and a 2004 NBA All-Star.
The Bucks star had his best statistical season in 2006-07, averaging a career-high 26.7 points per game. He set the Bucks’ single-game scoring record with 57 points against the Utah Jazz that year. Despite his individual success, the Bucks struggled to win, finishing the season 28-54.
Redd’s career was derailed by a series of knee injuries starting in 2009. He missed extensive time over the next few seasons, playing only 10 games in 2010-11 before signing with the Phoenix Suns for his final NBA season in 2011-12. He announced his retirement in 2013 and has since pursued business ventures, including a podcast about entrepreneurship.

Right before the deadline in 2003, former Bucks guard Ray Allen was traded to the Seattle Supersonics. This move opened up more minutes for Redd during the 2003-04 season, which saw him earn his first All-Star selection during that campaign. Needless to say, the Bucks star saw his prime start from there.
Though his career was cut short by injuries, Redd left a lasting legacy as one of the most prolific scorers in Bucks history. He remains revered by Milwaukee fans for his dedication to the franchise over 11 seasons.
