Despite the fact that the Milwaukee Bucks have found success in retooling their roster ahead of the new season, there’s no denying that their moves have paled in comparison to some of their biggest rivals in the Eastern Conference.
The New York Knicks made a major splash with their Mikal Bridges trade, while the Philadelphia 76ers changed the landscape of the NBA after acquiring Paul George. On top of those, you have the Boston Celtics, who are coming off their 18th franchise championship.
Amid the whirlwind of offseason activity in the conference, however, Bucks general manager Jon Horst remains unfazed.
Milwaukee Bucks News: GM Jon Horst Remains Extremely Confident in Team

Horst isn’t denying the fact that the competition is going to be even tougher this coming season. At the same time, however, his confidence in his players and in his team remains unshaken.
“I mean, honestly, it’s just whether or not those other teams belong in the conversation with us,” he told Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “We’re the winningest team in the league and the conference the last seven or eight years. We still have our place there. We still have the best player in the world. We’ve got two top-75 players as our lead duo.”

That’s a pretty bold take from Horst after seeing the Bucks suffer a first-round exit last season. As he said, however, Horst is extremely confident that so long as they’re healthy, Milwaukee can go toe-to-toe with any opponent out there.
“I mean, it’s an incredibly tough conference and tough league,” he continued. “You’re just talking about the East, which is great, but the West has gotten a lot better too. And whether it’s they belong with us, we belong with them, we’ll all figure it out together. It’ll shake itself out. But there’s no question that our team is one of the top teams in the conference and in the league.
The fans are expecting a bounce-back season from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. in 2024-25, and while Horst knows that this will be a major challenge for them, it is also clear that he has no doubt in his mind that this squad has what it takes to bring back the Larry O’Brien trophy to Milwaukee.
