Like all teams in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks are projected to enter the 2024-25 season with a major win and loss. For the latter, though, that meant losing Malik Beasley to free agency during the offseason.
Beasley joined the Bucks in 2023 after a series of trades throughout his career. During his time in Milwaukee, the veteran guard quickly made an impact, showcasing his scoring ability and three-point shooting prowess.
During the 2023-2024 season, he played a significant role on the team, helping them secure key victories. Notably, he scored a season-high of 30 points in a game against the Toronto Raptors, demonstrating his capability as a reliable scorer. Additionally, Beasley participated in the Three-Point Contest during the NBA All-Star Weekend, where he faced off against top competitors, including his teammate Damian Lillard.
Beasley’s journey in the NBA has seen him transition through several teams, starting with the Denver Nuggets, then moving to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and later the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers. His time with the Bucks has been characterized by consistent performance, both as a starter and coming off the bench, as he continues to refine his skills and contribute to his team’s success.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ Biggest Loss Ahead of the 2024-25 NBA Season Revealed
During the offseason, Beasley signed with the Detroit Pistons for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign. Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale details how this move became the Bucks’ biggest loss in recent memory.
“This is far from gut-grinding as far as losses go. Milwaukee couldn’t keep Beasley without his accepting another (big) pay cut, and Trent replaces nearly everything he does on offense while providing more (anarchic, sometimes damaging) disruption on defense.
It’s still seldom good to lose someone who just torched twine on 41.3 percent of his almost seven three-point attempts per game—even if A.J. Green looks like he’s ready for a bigger role,” Favale wrote.
In his lone season with the Bucks, Beasley averaged 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He also shot 44 percent from the field, 41 percent from downtown, and 71 percent from the free throw line.
Although Beasley’s departure was a big blow to Milwaukee, their offseason additions of Delon Wright, Gary Trent Jr., and Taurean Prince will more than make up for it. If all goes well, the production he offered last season can be exceeded in the coming campaign.
