Patrick Beverley’s departure to Israel has made the Milwaukee Bucks’ backcourt somewhat weaker. In order to fix that, the front office can make a move for Los Angeles Clippers guard Kris Dunn in a trade proposal that can benefit the team.
Dunn started his career after being drafted fifth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2016. He made an immediate impact during his rookie season, showcasing his potential as a skilled point guard.
In June 2017, he was traded to the Chicago Bulls, where he developed further, achieving career highs in points and assists. Dunn was particularly noted for his defensive prowess, earning recognition for his contributions on both ends of the court. He faced challenges with injuries that limited his playing time during his stint with the Atlanta Hawks in the 2020-2021 season.
Dunn later played for the Agua Caliente Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers in 2022, demonstrating his versatility and resilience. His performance in the G League earned him a contract with the Capital City Go-Go, where he continued to refine his skills.
In 2023, he joined the Utah Jazz, quickly becoming a vital part of their roster. His journey took another turn in July 2024, when he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in a deal involving Russell Westbrook. Throughout his career, Dunn has been recognized for his solid defensive abilities and playmaking skills, making him a valuable asset to any team he joins.
Milwaukee Bucks Acquire Kris Dunn From Los Angeles Clippers in Mock NBA Trade
As it stands, the Bucks’ backcourt could use some reinforcement, especially since All-Star Damian Lillard is the only true point guard in the roster. According to a mock trade proposal by Dalton Sell for Behind the Buck Pass, Milwaukee can land Dunn in exchange for Pat Connaughton and a 2031 second-round pick.
“This trade proposal is much simpler than the last one for the Milwaukee Bucks. To add Kris Dunn and his 2024-25 $5.2 million salary to their roster, the Bucks could move Pat Connaughton’s $9.4 million salary, along with a 2031 second-rounder, to the LA Clippers.
Dunn, who many people wanted the Milwaukee Bucks to get this past offseason, would make plenty of sense in the 414. The backup guard has been able to stick in the NBA due to his defense, hounding his matchup consistently while forcing steals at a high rate. Dunn and Delon Wright would be a lethal defensive duo off Milwaukee’s bench, proving to be a nightmare for opposing backcourts,” Sell wrote.
A couple of months ago, the Bucks had Dunn as a potential trade target. With solid defensive skills, he could serve as a valuable backup for Lillard, allowing him brief rest periods.
Dunn could enhance the Bucks’ defensive depth if the front office makes a move for him down the line. If they do, expect the team to become much more potent on both ends of the court, especially when Lillard takes a breather.
