Just recently, former NBA champion Kevin Garnett caused quite a stir when he said Giannis Antetokounmpo was the fourth-best player in the East. Now, he has laid out a condition for the Milwaukee Bucks if they want to become contenders next season.
Garnett recently drew flak after giving Antetokounmpo the said ranking. He emphasized that while the All-Star forward is undoubtedly a top talent, he cannot be considered the best in the East as long as players like Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum are around.
This ranking reflects the competitive landscape of the Eastern Conference, where several elite players vie for supremacy. Despite his impressive skills and accolades, including an NBA championship and multiple MVP awards, Antetokounmpo is facing stiff competition. Garnett’s comments highlight the depth of talent in the conference, with each player bringing unique strengths to their teams.
Antetokounmpo, known for his versatility and ability to dominate both offensively and defensively, has been a key figure for the Bucks. His ability to drive to the basket and defend multiple positions makes him a formidable opponent. However, Garnett’s assessment suggested that to reclaim the top spot, the two-time MVP may need to elevate his game further, especially in high-pressure playoff situations.
As the NBA season approaches, fans will be watching closely to see how Antetokounmpo responds to this ranking and whether he can assert himself among the elite players in the East. With the Bucks aiming for another championship run, Giannis’s performance will be crucial in determining their success this season.
Kevin Garnett Says Khris Middleton Has To Be Better If The Milwaukee Bucks Want To Become Contenders
Apart from his comment about Antetokounmpo, Garnett also mentioned that his mind can change if Khris Middleton can become better next season. His condition can be seen in a video he shared on his official X account.
“What we can’t forget about is Milwaukee gon be better… Doc came in the middle of the year.. he gon get his coaching staff together. They gon be better” – @paulpierce34

Last season, Middleton averaged 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. He also shot 49 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the arc, and 83 percent from the free throw line over the course of 55 games.
It remains to be seen whether Middleton can rise to the level of Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard as the upcoming season progresses. If he succeeds, Garnett will have to take back his claim against the Bucks.
