The Milwaukee Bucks may have to scour the market soon if they hope to compete again in the upcoming season. In that regard, there’s a lot of upside to be found in Kelly Oubre Jr. if he ever finds himself playing with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
After forgoing the final three years of his college career in Kansas, Oubre entered the NBA as the Atlanta Hawks’ 15th overall pick in the 2015 Draft. Shortly after, he was traded to the Washington Wizards and spent the first three years and a half of his career there. During that period, he averaged 8.2 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Oubre bounced around the league since being traded by the Wizards in 2018. From that point on, the wing played for different teams, such as the Phoenix Suns, Charlotte Hornets, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers.
In his last season with Philly, Oubre proved he can play at a respectable level for a contender. In the 68 games he played, 52 as a starter, the veteran wing notched 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per contest.
Kelly Oubre Jr. Named As Potential Free Agent Target For Milwaukee Bucks in Free Agency

With his one-year $2 million contract for the Sixers now done, there’s a chance for Oubre to play under head coach Doc Rivers and All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo next season. In an article written by Dalton Sell for Behind The Buck Pass:
“This particular writer has been high on Kelly Oubre Jr. for a long time for plenty of reasons. He’s an uber-athletic 6-foot-7 wing who can defend almost anyone on the floor. With his height and length, he’d give the Bucks plenty of versatile lineup combinations, especially when they go to their smaller lineups situationally.
Offensively, he’s not a great 3-point shooter – 32.7 percent for his career – but he’s still got the tools to make an impact on that end, averaging 15.4 points per game this past season. He could give the Bucks another needed complementary scorer, something this roster lacks outside of Bobby Portis. Oubre is a legitimate two-way threat,” Sell wrote.
With Oubre in the lineup, the Bucks gain a player who can create for himself on the court and defend on the other end. His performances in Philly and Charlotte are also good indicators of how he would play with superstars, like the Greek Freak and point guard Damian Lillard.

It remains to be seen where Oubre will end up soon. If ever he finds himself in Milwaukee, the Bucks stand to become better with him in the lineup.
