Milwaukee Bucks news: The Philadelphia 76ers could be one of the teams to beat in the East now that they’ve successfully brought in nine-time All-Star Paul George via free agency. Along with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the Sixers now have a legitimate Big 3 — one that is expected to terrorize the Eastern Conference this coming season.
Philly, however, might not be done just yet. With one roster spot still available for 2024-25, the Sixers might turn their attention to Bucks veteran Jae Crowder.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Jae Crowder to 76ers?
According to an opinion piece by Kylan Watson of Last Word on Sports, the Sixers could do far worse than Crowder in terms of filling their last available roster spot.
“If the Sixers decide they want a player who can provide toughness and a veteran presence. Signing Jae Crowder could be a great option for them as well. Crowder provides a dog mentality and willingness to do the little things that contribute to winning. Having a player like him on the roster would strengthen the mental toughness of the Sixers. Notably, that has been a weakness of previous squads Philly has put together,” Watson wrote.
Crowder is no star, but he might just have what the Sixers are looking for.
The 34-year-old shot 37.1 percent from distance in his two seasons in Milwaukee, and this is the type of catch-and-shoot efficiency Philly could benefit from significantly with Embiid, Maxey, and George all commanding significant time on the ball, as well as opposing defenses gravitating towards them.
As for the Bucks, it does not seem like they’re interested in offering Crodwer a new deal. Otherwise, they would have probably signed him by now.
He could come for cheap for Philly as well, with Crowder likely willing to settle for a veteran’s minimum deal.
