He cannot do it alone. This is the unified message from Milwaukee Bucks fans after watching Giannis Antetokounmpo go off for 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting on Sunday in a disappointing loss to Canada, 86-79.
Antetokounmpo did everything in his power to will his team to victory but unfortunately, the lack of support was what ultimately doomed Greece in what turned out to be a defeat in their Paris Olympics debut.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans Feel for Giannis Antetokounmpo
Canada pretty much had no answer for Antetokounmpo, who scored at will in Sunday’s high-profile contest. This resulted in a team-high 34-point eruption for the Bucks talisman, who ultimately, just didn’t have enough gas left in the tank to lift his side to a victory against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co.
For their part, the fans could not help but feel sorry for Giannis after watching him suffer defeat amid his gargantuan effort.
Giannis battled to death against a Canada team with 10+ NBA players and dropped 34 points on 65% shooting
They had him outside of the top 5 in the Olympic MVP leaderboard

Giannis was against 12 nba players, and the refs were on a mission.
Unfortunately, the rest of the Greek players, most of them were awful last night.— 🇬🇷Johnb🇬🇷 (@GRjohnbGR) July 28, 2024
Wasn’t enough. 1 star can’t win in international ball

Giannis will keep doing his thing and he will still be a dominant force despite the opponents’ best efforts to slow him down. However, without the necessary support from his team, I just don’t see the Greeks advancing to the knockout phase of the competition.
Unless things change significantly for Greece, Antetokounmpo’s 2024 Olympic stint might be short-lived.
