It’s no secret two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo collects sports cards, a hobby that has grown in popularity over the past couple of years. Proof of the Milwaukee Bucks star’s love for this type of sports memorabilia is his willingness to shell a massive amount of money for an epic piece signed by Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, and Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant.
Topps is set to reward one lucky collector with a highly sought-after triple autograph card featuring James, Curry, and Durant. This unique card, which is the first to showcase all three superstars together, also marks LeBron’s inaugural signed Topps card. The winner will receive the redemption card by late September, alongside a set of base cards from the release.
The excitement surrounding this card has driven significant interest, resulting in a record print run of 588,035 for Topps NOW cards. This particular card was randomly awarded to buyers of the Team USA base card, which commemorates their gold medal win at the Paris Olympics.
Bounties for the card have reached staggering amounts, with notable collectors offering up to $500,000, contingent on the card receiving top grades from PSA or BGS. The initial retail price for the base card was $11.99, but its value has skyrocketed due to the anticipation surrounding the triple auto.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Drops Staggering Bounty For Insane Basketball Card
Although the current bounty for the sports card has reached half a million dollars, Antetokounmpo still went ahead with a reward of his own. This can be seen in an article written by Adam Wells for Bleacher Report.
“Giannis Antetokounmpo could be looking to add an extremely rare card featuring autographs from LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant to his collection.
Topps, which manufactures the card, noted on Instagram that the Milwaukee Bucks superstar recently commented on an IG stories post that he would offer $150,000 to purchase it,” Wells wrote.
At this point in time, the Topps card featuring the three NBA superstars still hasn’t surfaced. It remains to be seen what the final bounty will be before it has been revealed who has obtained it.
As the card’s delivery approaches, collectors eagerly await its arrival, with many speculating on its future market value, including Antetokounmpo himself. This release not only reinforces the growing interest in basketball cards but also highlights the impact of star athletes on the collectibles market. With LeBron’s transition to Fanatics, this card represents a significant moment in sports memorabilia history.
