Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo just decided to play for Greece in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. While that may be good for his home country, Milwaukee Bucks fans have expressed their worry that this decision may affect their championship aspirations next season.
Before his NBA career, Antetokounmpo spent two years playing for Filathlitikos in the Greek B Basket League and then joined Spanish team CAI Zaragoza from 2011 to 2013. During this time, his potential caught the attention of NBA scouts, leading the Milwaukee Bucks to select him with the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Over the past decade, Antetokounmpo has emerged as the linchpin of the Milwaukee Bucks’ lineup. From a raw prospect, he has transformed into an elite forward who dominates opponents with his sheer will and physical prowess.
In the current season, the two-time MVP showcased his impact on both ends of the court. Across 73 games, the All-Star power forward averaged an impressive 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks.
The All-Star’s availability for the 2024 Olympics representing Greece has been confirmed by the Hellenic Basketball Federation. He expressed his desire to participate in the upcoming event. Under the guidance of head coach Vasilis Spanoulis, a revered figure in Greek basketball, Antetokounmpo and his teammates aim to build upon Greece’s success in the 2005 EuroBasket tournament, where they emerged as champions.
