Without doubt, Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the best basketball players heading into the 2024-25 season. Backing this detail up is the Milwaukee Bucks star’s ranking in the latest HoopsHype Top 100 list.

Antetokounmpo is renowned for his relentless energy and intensity on the basketball court, whether it’s during a regular season game or the NBA Finals. His drive stems from a deep-seated fear of losing the opportunities he has earned. The Greek Freak emphasizes that he is motivated by the desire to provide for his family, including his mother and brothers, which fuels his work ethic.

Coming from humble beginnings in Athens, Greece, he has transformed his life through sheer determination and hard work. Despite achieving numerous accolades, including multiple MVP awards, he approaches each game with the mindset of someone fighting for a spot on the team. Antetokounmpo believed that resting on past achievements can hinder progress, which is why he maintains a sense of urgency and desperation in his game.

As he vies for a possible second title, Antetokounmpo said that his primary goal is to elevate the Bucks to their highest potential. He understands that true greatness lies in making his teammates better, rather than solely focusing on individual accolades. His commitment to continuous improvement exemplifies his dedication to the sport and his team.

Just recently, HoopsHype released its list of Top 100 best players in the NBA. As analyzed by Frank Urbina and Raul Barrigon, the Greek Freak is in fourth place.

The best power forward in the game and a player who’d be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer if he retired today, the Milwaukee Bucks’s Giannis Antetokounmpo finished fourth in the MVP vote last season while earning 1st Team All-NBA and All-Star honors after putting up monstrous numbers once again.

He now totals two MVP awards, eight All-Star appearances, eight All-NBAs (six 1st Teams, two 2nd Teams), one Defensive Player of the Year award and four All-Defensive 1st Teams. Oh, and he already has an NBA championship and a Finals MVP under his belt, too.

Even at just 29 years old, we already rank Antetokounmpo as the 22nd-greatest player of all time and he’ll have a great shot to be Top 15 if his career continues at this pace, which we fully expect it to considering he ranked third in VORP, BPM and WS/48 league-wide just last season and hasn’t shown any sign of decline.

Last season, the Bucks star put up insane numbers of 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists. Even if that was the case, Antetokounmpo was never considered part of the MVP race. Nevertheless, the Greek Freak remains one the select few that impact the game on both ends of the court heading into next season.

As the season progresses, his unwavering determination will be crucial in helping the Bucks strive for another championship. Antetokounmpo’s journey reflects not just talent, but a profound commitment to his family’s legacy and the game itself.
