Although Greece was eliminated early in the Olympics, their run has been nothing short of inspiring. But with the sporting event now over, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo must end his stay in Paris. Before doing so, the two-time MVP bid the city farewell for his first Olympic experience.
Antetokounmpo’s heroic efforts with the Greek national team at the 2024 Olympics were a true testament to his dedication and pride. Despite Greece facing the daunting “Group of Death,” the Bucks superstar led his team to the quarter-finals, where they ultimately fell to the reigning World Champions, Germany.
Throughout the tournament, Antetokounmpo was the driving force for Greece, consistently leading the team in scoring and showcasing his exceptional skills. Even in defeat, he tallied 22 points, 2 rebounds, and three assists while shooting an efficient 64% from the field. Although the supporting cast struggled to complement the Bucks star, the team’s journey to the knockout stage was a remarkable achievement that should fill them, and their star player, with immense pride.
Antetokounmpo’s performance at the Olympics was all the more impressive given that he had just recovered from an injury that kept him out of the Bucks’ playoff run. Yet, he selflessly committed himself to the Greek national team, putting his personal rest and recovery aside to represent his homeland on the global stage.
As Antetokounmpo now prepares to return to Milwaukee, he can take solace in the fact that he gave his all for his country, inspiring the next generation of Greek basketball players and cementing his status as a true hero in his native land.

The Bucks All-Star forward saw his Olympic dreams crushed as Greece was eliminated from the 2024 Paris Olympics by Germany. The defeat marks a bitter end to Greece’s campaign, which saw the country participate in this sport for the first time.
Although it wasn’t the end they were hoping for, the experience itself will be one Antetokounmpo and his team will never forget. Hopefully, they get to make it back in four years when the Olympics will be held in Los Angeles.
