Even though Doc Rivers’ first run as the Milwaukee Bucks head coach ended in an early playoff exit, he still expressed hope for their upcoming campaign. The former Coach of the Year even went so far to say that the team’s championship window still remains open.
During the offseason, the Bucks’ front office installed Adrian Griffin as the team’s head coach after spending 15 years as an assistant coach. This move comes after Mike Budenholzer was let go by the franchise after helping Milwaukee win a ring in 2021.

Along with Griffin’s hiring, the Bucks acquired All-Star guard Damian Lillard during the offseason. In exchange, the franchise sent out veteran guard Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, a draft pick, and a pair of pick swaps in a three-team deal with the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns.
Although those moves were meant to push Milwaukee towards another championship, the opposite happened earlier this year. Griffin was let go and Rivers was hired as his replacement. Both Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo were injured during the playoffs, leading to an early playoff exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.
Head Coach Doc Rivers Says Milwaukee Bucks’ Championship Window Is Still Open

These series of unfortunate events prevented the Bucks from making far in the playoffs this year. But for Rivers himself, their opportunity to win a championship still remains open, as seen in a post by the team’s official account on X.
“Our window is still very much open.”

The Bucks have a chance to run it back and prepare in the offseason for their upcoming campaign later this year. With their core of Antetokounmpo and Lillard still intact, Rivers can spend time with the team in the coming months to come up with a solid plan to win.

Although the odds may be against them, Antetokounmpo and company are more than ready to surpass all expectations. Add Rivers to the mix and there’s a chance they can change the team’s narrative next year.
