For most of his career in the NBA, All-Star guard Damian Lillard has gone through so much challenges and overcame most of them. This has led the Milwaukee Bucks star to claim that he is underrated in the league right now, prompting fans to react to what he said.
Damian Lillard, the legendary Portland Trail Blazers point guard, believes he is underrated despite his impressive career achievements. In a recent interview on the Club 520 podcast, Lillard expressed his frustration with the lack of recognition he’s received for his sustained excellence in the NBA.
Despite his consistent All-Star performances, Lillard has yet to reach the NBA Finals. He led the Blazers to the Western Conference Finals in 2019, but the team has struggled to maintain that level of success in recent years. Lillard was eventually traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal, where he hopes to capture his first championship.
Last season, Lillard and the Bucks had a disappointing finish to their playoff run when they were eliminated by Tyrese Haliburton’s Indiana Pacers. This was in contrary to early-season predictions that the All-Star guard’s pairing with Antetokounmpo will propel Milwaukee towards a serious contention in the playoffs.
NBA Fans React To Milwaukee Bucks Guard Damian Lillard’s Underrated Claim
During that same interview, as seen in a video shared by 2Cool2Blog on X, Lillard dropped his underrated claim. In turn, fans shared their thoughts on the matter.
“They act like I don’t be doing what I’ve been doing. This is going to be my 13th season. My time in the league, when I think about how many people have been very good over that time, it ain’t been that many people that have been here the whole time, since I’ve been in the league, that just been doing it, like over and over and over. But I think people just get bored with consistency. And I ain’t loud, but I’ve been doing it that long and winning,” Lillard said.

“False, people stay giving him his credit..he just doesn’t win,” 67 Turbo tweeted.
“What kinda props does he think he deserves? lol” Patrick said.
“Dawg how much more credit you looking for?” Nato Jacobs posted.
“I disagree with this take 4real… anybody who speaks on Dame ONLY gives him flowers in regard to his basketball abilities💯 he’s going on year 13/14 & he’s top 75 with no individual accolades & rings…the masses have Dame top 10 PG’s all time & nobody debates that gang,” Pickle Rick explained.
“This scrub couldn’t win 60 games with Giannis and his lame ass stans were using his bitch leaving him as an excuse,” Chicago Sky Ambassador reacted.
“he’s literally top 75 what more does he want,” SNS Ravo shared.
“From whom? Top 75 . Is a traffic cone on D and never top 5 in mvp. He’s got a lotta credit others with similar resumes don’t ..but hey whatever motivates you,” Antoine Hardy expressed.
At 34 years old, Lillard is still among the league’s elite point guards, averaging 24.3 points, 7.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game last season. He’s proven himself as a perennial All-Star and one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA, but he believes his contributions have not received the same level of recognition as some of his peers.
As Lillard enters the twilight of his career, he’s determined to prove he deserves more respect and ultimately, a championship ring to cement his legacy as one of the all-time great point guards. The upcoming season will be an opportunity for the guard to do just that.
