Over the years, All-Star point guard Damian Lillard has established himself as one of the NBA’s best players. Just recently, the Milwaukee Bucks star shot down rumors of any breakdown with a response that’s more in line with his personality.
Lillard’s first season with the Bucks was a year of adjustment, as the star point guard navigated a coaching change and a disappointing postseason exit. However, he remains optimistic about the team’s future, believing they have the necessary talent and experience to make a championship push in the coming season.
The All-Star guard acknowledged the 2023-24 campaign was a transition year, with the team needing time to blend their new pieces together. But he believes the lessons learned will benefit the Bucks moving forward. Noting the importance of patience and adaptability, Lillard is confident he and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo can develop into a formidable duo, provided they are given the opportunity to build their chemistry.
The Bucks’ offseason moves, including the hiring of experienced coach Doc Rivers, have Lillard excited about the team’s prospects for the 2024-25 season. He believes the roster now has the right pieces to compete at the highest level, and he can’t wait to get back on the court and prove the Bucks are a force to be reckoned with.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Clears Issue About Breaking Down
Just recently, the Bucks star addressed concerns that he’s breaking down after his team didn’t perform that well last season. In an article posted on Real GM, Lillard gave a response to this allegation.
“I’m not a player that’s breaking down,” Lillard said. “I live a clean, good, healthy life, so I can do it. I can do the same (expletive) I did two, three years ago. I can do it right now.” “There was a lot of change, a lot of stress, you know?” the veteran guard said. “I think now, having an opportunity to get myself in order and kind of start pushing forward to next season.”
Last season, Lillard played 73 regular season games for Milwaukee. During that period, the guard averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 7.0 assists. However, the Bucks were eliminated in the first round by Tyrese Haliburton’s Indiana Pacers.
Despite the challenges of his first year in Milwaukee, Lillard remains bullish on the team’s future. With a full offseason to prepare and a renewed sense of purpose, he believes the Bucks have the potential to bring a championship to the city.
