Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis has been constantly mentioned in the media recently as one of the team’s assets during the offseason. But if the franchise’s fans had their way, the big man won’t be traded out of Cream City.
Portis was drafted in the first round, 22nd overall, by the Chicago Bulls after a successful college career at the University of Arkansas. With the Bulls, the big man emerged as a promising young power forward. He made his NBA debut in 2015 and had several strong performances, including a 20-point, 11-rebound game against the New York Knicks in his rookie season. He continued to develop over the next few years, showcasing his ability to score, rebound, and defend. He had a career-high 27 points in 2017.
In 2017, Portis was involved in a physical altercation with teammate Nikola Mirotic during practice, resulting in an 8-game suspension. However, he bounced back and had a solid year in 2018-19 before being traded to the Washington Wizards midway through the season.
He then spent a brief stint with the New York Knicks before signing with Milwaukee in 2020. With the two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, he has continued to be a valuable bench player, contributing to their NBA championship in 2021. Now in his eighth NBA season, the Bucks’ fan-favorite has established himself as a reliable power forward who can make an impact on both ends of the floor.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans Plead With Bobby Portis To Stay With Team
Just recently, Portis shared a series of images of him working out on the court on his X account. Naturally, Bucks fans aired their sentiment and pleaded with him to stay in Milwaukee.

“You a buck boy,” obisobe said.
“pls stay bobby,” GiannisGotAura posted.
“u staying with us,” bensbighog reacted.
“Don’t let them trade you or I’ll cry,” Brooklyn shared.
Portis still has two years left on his current contract and he has a player option in the last one. During the previous campaign, the big man averaged 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists over the course of 82 regular season games.
It remains to be seen whether the Bucks’ front office will trade Portis or not. In any case, the team’s fans will surely riot if they see the forward go.
