Last season wasn’t a good one for Golden State Warriors wing Andrew Wiggins after he regressed from his championship form. There may be a chance for redemption, especially if the Milwaukee Bucks potentially land him during the offseason.
Wiggins first entered the NBA as the Minnesota Timberwolves number one pick in the 2014 Draft. Right from the get-go, the 6’7″ small forward made his presence known by winning that season’s Rookie of the Year award with averages of 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

While his numbers went up over the years, Wiggins and the Timberwolves were never considered true playoff contenders. Even with Jimmy Butler dragging the team to the postseason of 2018, the team continued to disappoint as his pairing with All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns never produced any tangible results.
Fortunately, Wiggins was traded to the Golden State Warriors and proved his worth for a playoff contender. In 2022, the one-time All-Star became an instrumental piece for Stephen Curry and the Dubs as they clinched the championship that year. However, his performance this season hasn’t been up to par with the Warriors’ expectations of him as he only averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.
Milwaukee Bucks Projected To Go For Golden State Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins During the Offseason

Although Wiggins’ time with Golden State may come to an end, there’s a chance he gets to play alongside the duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard next season. In an article written by Cem Yolbulan for Behind the Buck Pass, the small forward is one of the potential trade targets the team can go for in the offseason.
“Only two seasons ago, Wiggins was one of the best two-way wings in the NBA, playing a massive part in Golden State’s championship. He was regularly guarding the best wing on the other team while hitting threes at a solid clip and attacking the rim relentlessly. That was when he earned his first All-Star honors.
Wiggins has two more seasons on his contract with an average of $27 million per year. If the Warriors want to move on from him for financial reasons, the Bucks should be prepared to make an offer,” Yolbulan wrote.
A change of situation might be good for the former Rookie of the Year, especially after his previous season with the Dubs. If the Bucks prove to be the right fit for Wiggins, his fit with the Greek Freak and Dame Time may possibly lead to a deadlier Milwaukee team next season.

It’s not yet known what price Golden State will ask for Wiggins or if they’d rather keep him instead. In any case, a rejuvenated Wiggins may bring Milwaukee back to championship contention if the team goes after him during the offseason.
