Along with MarJon Beauchamp, Milwaukee Bucks fans are counting on Andre Jackson to take a leap next season. As it stands, there’s something the young star must do to help his team compete in the Eastern Conference.

Jackson, entering his second season with the Bucks, has shown promise but needs to address several key areas for improvement to enhance his impact on the team. One major concern is his tendency to commit personal fouls, which limited his playing time during his rookie year.

Averaging 1.6 fouls per game, he ranked among the top foulers on the roster despite playing fewer minutes than many of his teammates. This issue persisted in the postseason, where his fouls increased to an average of two per game.

During his college career at UConn, Jackson struggled with fouling, averaging 2.7 fouls over three seasons. While some of his infractions can be attributed to rookie nerves, it’s essential for him to refine his defensive approach if he wishes to secure a more significant role in Milwaukee’s rotation. Many of his fouls resulted from unnecessary reaching or excessive physicality, highlighting the need for better judgment on the court.

What Andre Jackson Needs To Do For The Milwaukee Bucks Next Season

The upcoming season will be a new opportunity for Jackson to prove his worth on the court. Behind the Buck Pass’ Dalton Sell explained how he can do so in his latest NBA analysis.

“There was plenty to like about Andre Jackson Jr.’s play during his rookie year with the Bucks, but his proneness to foul was not one of them. He totaled 92 personal fouls throughout his first NBA season, which oftentimes got him taken out of the game. If he can tighten up and cut back on the fouls, the sophomore could undoubtedly carve out a role for himself,” Sell wrote.

Fortunately, Jackson possesses the basketball IQ and work ethic to improve in this area. Gaining more consistent playing time will allow him to learn from his mistakes and develop his skills further. By focusing on reducing fouls and playing smarter defensively, Jackson can increase his minutes and contribution to the Bucks.

As he continues to evolve as a player, addressing this issue will be crucial for his growth and the team’s overall success. The Bucks are counting on Jackson to step up and provide valuable contributions as they aim for a deep playoff run.
