Milwaukee Bucks fans are on the verge of a significant change in how they watch their team’s games. Recent reports indicate that Amazon is in the final stages of negotiations with Diamond Sports Group to stream non-nationally televised games of the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led team.
This potential deal would allow fans to access these games through Amazon’s platform, alongside the existing broadcasts of Bucks games on Bally Sports Wisconsin. If finalized, the new service could launch in time for the upcoming NBA season, with fans expected to pay around $20 per month for access.
This price is competitive with what many local viewers currently pay for the Bally Sports+ app, which has faced criticism for its user experience. The availability of Bucks games on Amazon would provide a valuable alternative for those who prefer streaming over traditional cable.
The Bucks will have ten nationally televised games this season, including their opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 23. For the remaining 72 games, fans can choose between watching on Bally Sports or the new Amazon service, ensuring continued coverage for those eager to support the team.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Local Broadcast Receives Timely Aid From Amazon
This shift comes at a critical time for Diamond Sports, which has been navigating bankruptcy since March 2023. The partnership with Amazon could help stabilize the company’s finances and expand its subscriber base. Dalton Sell detailed more in his article for Behind The Buck Pass.
“For years now, Bally Sports Wisconsin has been the primary way to watch the Milwaukee Bucks play when they are not nationally televised.
In today’s day and age, cable is slowly becoming a thing of the past, while streaming is becoming all the rage. This latest news only confirms it. The New York Post’s Josh Kosman reports that Amazon is nearing a deal to stream certain MLB, NHL and MLB games. If the deal goes through, all Bucks games that are not nationally televised will be available through Amazon,” Sell wrote.
Additionally, this deal is expected to be non-exclusive. This will allow Diamond to pursue other streaming options while keeping the Bally Sports app operational for Bucks fans.
As the 2024-25 NBA season approaches, fans are excited about the prospect of more accessible viewing options. With ongoing updates expected, Bucks supporters are eager to see how this potential partnership develops and what it means for their game-watching experience moving forward.
