Milwaukee Bucks: LeBron James Makes 1 Controversial Claim Ahead of Preseason Clash vs. Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks and the rest of the NBA teams are amping up their preparations with the 2024-25 season opener clinching closer each day. It’s the chance for the team’s stars to shake off their offseason rust and the coaching staff to make the necessary adjustments to start their campaign for the Larry O’Brien trophy on the right foot.

While not many fans value the team’s preseason games, they are a chance for them to see how the team’s additions and Doc Rivers’ full preseason are helping Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard reach the goal of winning a title.

One of the biggest games in their preseason calendar is their duel against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Greek Freak already has fans hyped with a cryptic message, showing fans that this contest is more than just a simple tune-up game for them.

It seems that the stakes were raised even further as one of the team’s opposing stars made a highly controversial update on social media.

LeBron James is as talented a basketball player as he is outspoken. His most die-hard fans will argue that he earned his right to talk about whatever he wants the 39-year-old is still one of the most dominant players on the hardwood.

However, his latest sentiment about their upcoming preseason tilt at Fiserv Forum will have Rivers use his statement as motivation to crush the Purple and Gold.

Per Los Angeles Daily News’ Khobi Price:

“Can someone please explain to me why we’re getting on a [plane emoji] and heading to Milwaukee for [one] pre-season game!?!?” James posted to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

The Thursday matchup will be the Lakers’ third of six preseason games, with all their exhibitions being played away from their home arena of Crypto.com Arena.

If you look at it from James’ point of view, it’s understandable why he would make such a comment. He just came off a summer where he was one of Team USA‘s focal players, so it’s understandable why he doesn’t have to travel more than 1,700 miles to play a game that doesn’t have any bearing on their postseason hopes.

However, to say that ahead of a preseason game where his Lakers will square off a Milwaukee Bucks squad eager to start their season on a high isn’t a great look for him and his squad. It got to a point where even one of James’ loudest critics hopped in on the narrative with a shot of his own.

Fans can expect the game to be a feisty affair as both teams will want to win and build momentum for the season.
