A few days ago, the Milwaukee Bucks made the expected, yet still painful, decision to trade three-time All-Star Khris Middleton in an effort to improve their roster. After two-and-a-half seasons of injury-shortened campaigns, Milwaukee felt that they needed a player who would be available more often.

As a result, they sent Middleton and rookie AJ Johnson to the Washington Wizards for Kyle Kuzma and Patrick Baldwin Jr. (who was then sent to the San Antonio Spurs for cash).

And while Kuzma has already made his Bucks debut (Sunday was his second game with Milwaukee since the trade), Middleton has yet to suit up for the Wizards. Johnson has played some garbage time minutes, but the biggest name of the trade has not even donned his new jersey yet.

Per a report on X (formerly Twitter) by Josh Robbins, who covers the Wizards for The Athletic, Middleton is not going to suit up for Washington until after the All-Star break. The Wizards resume play after the break on February 21. Against the Bucks.

Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart are very likely to make their Washington Wizards debuts after the upcoming All-Star break, not before, sources said. The Wizards will host the Spurs on Monday and the Pacers on Wednesday. Their first game post break: Feb. 21 against the Bucks. …

Middleton, of course, underwent surgery on both of his ankles this past offseason. While Milwaukee’s medical staff had hoped that he would be ready for the start of the regular season, Middleton missed the first 21 games of the season.

Once he returned, he played in 23 of a possible 28 games. He started by coming of the bench before joining that starting rotation. However, he was relegated to the bench again after it was clear that he was struggling to keep up with the pace of play the rest of the starters set.
