So far this season, Khris Middleton has played in just one out of the Milwaukee Bucks’ five back-to-back sets this season. They play for a second time in two nights again on Sunday, hosting the Sacramento Kings at the Fiserv Forum, which has had a lot of fans monitoring Middleton’s status for this contest.
Unfortunately for Milwaukee supporters, the team has decided to give the three-time All-Star a night off on Sunday.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton OUT Vs. Kings
Considering how Middleton played in Milwaukee’s last back-to-back set on January 5, there was some optimism that the 32-year-old would be available on Sunday. The Bucks, however, have opted to err on the side of caution, and have decided to give Middleton some rest amid the team’s grueling schedule.
Officially, Middleton has been listed as out due to right knee injury management. This is the same knee that underwent surgery this summer and is also the culprit behind his strict minutes limit early in the campaign.
There appears to be no major concern here and Middleton’s absence on Sunday is likely just a regular night off. He should be back in the mix on Wednesday when the Bucks travel to Ohio to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Questionable to Play
The bigger surprise for the Bucks, though, is Giannis Antetokounmpo being listed as questionable to play against Sacramento. The former back-to-back MVP was added to the injury report just a couple of hours prior to tip-off.
Antetokounmpo looked fine on Saturday night in their 129-118 win over the Golden State Warriors, but the injury report indicates that Giannis is now dealing with a right shoulder contusion.
If the seven-time All-Star is unable to go, Damian Lillard will have an extremely busy night against the Kings.
UPDATE: The Bucks have cleared Giannis to play:
