Milwaukee Bucks Fans Are FURIOUS with Jon Horst for Adding Kevin Porter Jr at NBA Trade Deadline

The Milwaukee Bucks are 27-22 on the season following their 112-102 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night. They are currently the fifth seed in the NBA Eastern Conference, just a game behind the Indiana Pacers for fourth.

Of course, that game against the Hornets was the first game Milwaukee played after it was announced that they had traded three-time All-Star forward Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards.

Prior to the announcement, many fans believed that Middleton was going to be traded. Two-and-a-half years of injury-shortened seasons just wasn’t going to cut it for a team whose goal it is to contend for an NBA Championship.

But the player that the Bucks got in return, Kyle Kuzma, is underwhelming. That being said, Bucks fans are more upset about the deal general manager Jon Horst made on Thursday than the seemingly poor return he got for Middleton.

The Milwaukee Bucks Acquired Kevin Porter Jr. in a Trade for MarJon Beauchamp

On Thursday, right before the NBA trade deadline, the Bucks agreed to send MarJon Beauchamp to the Los Angeles Clippers for Kevin Porter Jr., who was actually Milwaukee’s first round pick in 2019. However, the night of that draft, they traded him, along with Tony Snell, to the Detroit Pistons for Jon Leuer.

A few days later, Porter was traded by the Pistons to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Porter had a solid rookie season in Cleveland, averaging 10.0 points per game. The following offseason, though, he was traded to the Houston Rockets, and it was there that he seemed to be becoming one of the NBA’s rising stars. He averaged 16.6 points in 2020, 15.6 points in 2021, and an impressive 19.3 points in 2022 for Houston.

    But then came the allegations.

Per multiple reports, Porter assaulted and beat up his then-girlfriend, WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick in 2023. The Rockets placed him on indefinite leave and then traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who promptly released him.

He did not play in the NBA at all in 2023.

Porter signed with the Los Angeles Clippers this past offseason and is averaging 9.3 points per game, but is shooting just 24.5% from three.

Milwaukee Bucks Fans Hate that Kevin Porter Jr. Is on the Team

Since his arrest, Porter has pled guilty to assault and was convicted of a misdemeanor. While the legal part of his disgusting actions is over, the NBA is still doing its own investigation. And, barring the outcome of that investigation, Porter could still be suspended by the league.

Possible suspension aside, Bucks fans are absolutely disgusted that Horst and the organization would add such a person to the team:

That is an exceedingly low cost but also I do not want to root for Kevin Porter Jr https://t.co/Ox0vItxt8s

No more Khris, but we got someone with an extensive “Personal Life” tab on Wikipedia, always a great sign https://t.co/IBmofO1xPI

My basketball team can’t just be bad they have to be morally bankrupt as well https://t.co/XCZHSW4H93 pic.twitter.com/QJ0VMzj41y

Oh good I was hoping we would acquire a horrible person who also sucks at basketball! https://t.co/oXY7ok2KUz

    — Spencer Michaelis (@smichaelis234) February 6, 2025

Porter is on a very inexpensive contract, which pays him only $2.2 million this year. He has a player option worth $2.4 million for the 2025-26 NBA season, but hopefully he declines it and Bucks fans can won’t have to feel a twinge of guilt whenever they cheer for their team.
