The Milwaukee Bucks lost just their ninth game of the season on Monday night. This was after they were taken down by Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers, 122-113, to mark Milwaukee’s first home defeat in the last 16 games.
At 24-9, the Bucks are second in the Eastern Conference. They are just 2.0 games behind the top-seeded Boston Celtics.
Given all this, it would be easy to assume that the Bucks are one of the most dominant teams in the NBA today. Well, NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins begs to differ.
Kendrick Perkins Rips Milwaukee Bucks
During Tuesday’s episode of NBA Today, former champion Kendrick Perkins shared his brutally honest assessment of Milwaukee’s current standing. Big Perk clearly isn’t impressed with what he’s seen from the Bucks thus far:
“No one is fearing the deer. As a matter of fact, it is deer hunting season right now, It just started about a month and a half ago,” Perkins said. “… I don’t want to about hear what the Bucks have been doing as of late because they haven’t been played by anyone. Yes, they got a nice win over the New York Knicks. And then, the Knicks came back and returned the favor on Christmas Day. They are not measured up against the New York Knicks. They are measured up against contenders.”
Perkins went on to belabor his point by saying that the Bucks are a very beatable team at the moment:
“The Bucks have not got a signature win,” Perkins continued. “If you have elite perimeter play, you’re going to beat the Milwaukee Bucks. When you’re looking at facing Damian Lillard, Malik Beasley, Khris Middleton — that’s your starting five? Who’s stopping someone on the permiter? Nobody.”
That’s brutal.
The Bucks Are Not Contenders
Big Perk wasn’t done. He then claimed that at this rate, there’s no way the Bucks are going to go all the way this season. In fact, Perkins doesn’t even believe that this current version of the Bucks is worthy of being considered a title contender:
“So at the end of the day, until the Bucks figure it out — I don’t know if they have to make another move, I don’t know if Jae Crowder needs to get healthy — whatever it needs to be, right now, the Bucks are not a contending team,” he said. “They haven’t beaten anyone and they haven’t shown us that they are able to elevate their level of defense on the perimeter. ”
"No one is fearing the deer as of late."

You can be sure that Bucks fans are taking note of this latest round of slander from the one and only Kendrick Perkins. For all we know, Giannis Antetokounmpo could be taking notes, too.
