The Milwaukee Bucks have just stumbled upon a major roadblock early in the season. This is after they were slapped with their first major injury of the campaign. It comes in the form of Jae Crowder suffering a significant groin injury that will require surgery.
According to the team’s official statement, Crowder is expected to miss at least two months of action.
Milwaukee Bucks HC Adrian Griffin Reacts to Jae Crowder Injury
The Bucks made the devastating announcement barely an hour before their game against the Chicago Bulls. Head coach Adrian Griffin had an opportunity to speak with the media immediately after the news broke, and it comes as no surprise that the rookie shot-caller had a somber reaction to Crowder’s injury:
“Sports can be brutal at times,” Griffin said, via Gabe Stoltz of Brew Hoop. “He came into training camp in phenomenal shape — mind, body, spirit. He’s a tremendous piece of what we’re trying to do moving forward. From what I’m told, it’s approximately eight weeks and he’ll be back. He’ll be back way before the playoffs to get that rhythm back. This happens in sports so we just gotta stay positive and look at the bright side and that’s other guys are going to be able to get some minutes and help this team win.”
As Griffin said, however, the Bucks have no other choice but to try and see the silver lining in Crowder’s injury. Guys such as MarJon Beauchamp and Andre Jackson Jr. should get more opportunities to show their worth to the team amid Crowder’s absence.
Moreover, it’s also better for Crowder to suffer the injury now as opposed to later in the season. As Griffin stated, the 3-and-D specialist should be back to full strength by the time the postseason kicks in.
