Before Giannis Antetokounmpo won the Milwaukee Bucks’ first NBA title in 50 years, the team did their best to build a strong roster to help the Greek Freak make the playoffs.
While they managed to create the perfect roster to help them win the 2021 NBA title against the Phoenix Suns, they had to go through multiple iterations before finding the right one. They did everything they could to give Giannis the teammates he needed to make a deep playoff run.
However, the glory may make people forget that the team wouldn’t have reached this point if the players who donned the Bucks jersey ever since Giannis’ breakout season in the league.
One such player has announced his retirement from basketball after four years of not being in the NBA.
Former Milwaukee Bucks center John Henson retires from basketball after 8 years
John Henson, a player who played a good chunk of his eight-year career with the Bucks, has recently announced his retirement from basketball, as reported by Legion Hoops on Twitter/X.

Many Bucks fans would remember Henson as an intriguing big man who was supposed to become a reliable presence for the team through the 2010s. However, the 6’9″ forward/center failed to establish his place in the Bucks as his low production and health forced the team to move on from him by the 2019-20 season.
His greatest season was during his sophomore campaign, where he averaged more than 10 points for the first and final time in his career. Fans last saw him play for the Detroit Pistons in the pandemic-stricken 2019-20 season before quietly leaving the league.
WIll the Milwaukee Bucks win another championship with Giannis Antetokounmpo?
While many Bucks fans would fondly remember Henson, they’re still zeroed in on the current Bucks and what the team can do to bring another Larry O’Brien trophy back to Wisconsin.
Damian Lillard must step up as the Greek Freak’s running mate if the team wants to make a Finals return. Brook Lopez and the rest of the Milwaukee rotation must also do their part to make the job easier on their star man.
