Goran Dragic is now a free agent after agreeing to a buyout with the San Antonio Spurs. The 14-year veteran will surely be pursued by a number of championship contending teams, the Milwaukee Bucks need to be one of them. George Hill has done well as the team’s primary back-up point guard, but bench guard Pat Connaughton recently suffered an injury and is set to be sidelined for a few weeks. Dragic can instantly come in and mesh with the team due to his experience and playing style. A Tight Eastern Conference Race

What Goran Dragic Brings
Dragic has been relatively quiet this season, but to no fault of his own. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors this past offseason in their trade with the Miami Heat involving Kyle Lowry. Dragic hardly played, but this is because Toronto never had any plans for him. After being traded to the Spurs, he was finally bought out and is free to sign with whatever team he chooses.
Last season, when he actually saw plenty of time on the court, Dragic averaged 13.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game for the Heat. The season prior, during the Heat’s run to the NBA Finals in the NBA Bubble, Dragic finished the regular season with averages of 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.
If he signs with Milwaukee, he won’t be putting up those kind of numbers. What he will do, however, is shore up the team’s depth. Dragic can play both guard positions, which is especially good with the Bucks’ need for short-term shooting guard depth. Dragic can be trusted to handle the ball and lead the offense while Jrue Holiday sits, as well as bringing in very solid shooting and defense. All in all, singing Dragic is the best move the Bucks can make right now to further ensure competing for a second straight championship.
