It was mission accomplished for the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night as they took down the Philadelphia 76ers in their first game of the new season. Their blockbuster summer trade for Damian Lillard immediately paid dividends as the seven-time All-NBA point guard stole the show in his debut.
Giannis Anteteokounmpo definitely approves.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Sounds Off on Milwaukee Bucks’ Opening Night Win
Shortly after the win, Giannis took to Twitter to share his immediate reaction to Milwaukee going 1-0 to start the season. He only needed two words (and two emojis) to express his sentiments after their 118-117 victory over a shorthanded Sixers side:

If you ask me, that’s a pretty epic photo of Milwaukee’s new superstar duo. You can almost feel the intensity oozing out of Giannis and Dame as they defended their home court against an unrelenting Philadephia side.
It wasn’t exactly a mind-blowing performance for Giannis, though, with the former back-to-back MVP logging 23 points on 10-of-22 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Antetokounmpo went 0-of-3 from his attempts from deep, while also shooting just 3-of-9 from the charity stripe. Giannis didn’t take care of the rock in this one either, turning the ball over seven times.
Dame Came to Play
It was a completely different story for Lillard, though. For starters, Dame did not turn the ball over once in his team-high 37 minutes on the floor. He also amassed 39 points on 9-of-20 from the field, with four triples, eight rebounds, and four dimes. Lillard was perfect from the free-throw line, knocking down all 17 of his attempts.
Needless to say, it was an excellent debut from Milwaukee’s new superstar.
