And just like that, Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is about to enter his 12th season in the NBA. The Greek Freak’s adventure in the league is filled with ups and downs, and there will be more to come for the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
On Monday, Antetokounmpo showed his excitement for the upcoming season with a message on X (formerly Twitter).
“Year 12! Let’s get it! 🙏🏽🔥,” Antetkounmpo captioned a photo that showed him flexing his biceps.
Although Antetekounmpo has won an NBA title and a couple of MVPs, it’s clear that the thirst to succeed is still there for the 29-year-old star.
After a disappointing 2023-24 NBA season by the Bucks, Antetokoumpo is aiming to help Milwaukee reclaim its top status in the league. Last season, the Bucks regressed. After winning 58 games a season prior, Milwaukee went just 49-33 and struck out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, as they lost in a seven-game series to the Indiana Pacers.
Antetokounmpo, who signed a three-year deal worth $175.37 million with the Bucks in 2023, averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game in the 2023-24 campaign. Together with Damian Lillard, Antetokoumpo forms a highly potent 1-2 combo that Milwaukee will heavily rely on.
