Wednesday’s showdown between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers was supposed to be a close game. This was the case for the first half as the Bucks took a 68-66 lead into the break.
Everything changed in the third quarter, though. The Pacers came out firing after the half, outscoring their opponents, 47-29, in what was a truly eye-popping 12-minute onslaught.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Comments on Pacers’ Barrage
Giannis Antetokounmpo nearly logged another triple-double in this one with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. The Bucks, however, wasted another outstanding performance from their talisman by allowing Indiana to completely demolish them in the third quarter.
Even the former back-to-back MVP had to tip his hat to the Pacers for their second-half barrage:
“They came out of halftime and played extremely hard, set the tone, moved the ball, made some shots,” Giannis said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We did not take care of the ball also. We have to do a better job coming out of halftime, setting the tone and attacking first. But we wasn’t able to do tonight and that’s why they scored 47 points.”
It’s not every day that the Bucks give up 47 points in a quarter, which explains the disappointment in Giannis’ tone.
Then again, it’s also not every day that Milwaukee faces off against Tyrese Haliburton, who once again torched the Bucks with another majestic display. Giannis and Co. actually battled Haliburton twice in the span of three days, and the result was the same as the Pacers end their regular-season series up 4-1.
