Former Milwaukee Bucks Player Says Giannis Antetokounmpo Could Bolt for Rival Team; “There’s Always Truth to His Humor”

The Milwaukee Bucks have been very active ahead of the NBA trade deadline, and none of the deals they made were bigger than the one that sent Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards for Kyle Kuzma. Middleton, a three-time All-Star, is the Bucks’ franchise leader in three pointers made, second in games played, and third in points scored. Trading him truly ended one of the most storied tenures in franchise history.

Despite the fact that it was obviously time for Milwaukee and Middleton to part ways due to his frequent injuries over the last few years, many fans are concerned that Giannis Antetokounmpo, undoubtedly the greatest player in franchise history, will be more open to leaving without his best friend on the team there.

And one former Bucks player certainly thinks it’s a possibility.

Former Milwaukee Bucks Forward/Center DeMarcus Cousins Thinks Giannis Antetokounmpo Would Join the Chicago Bulls

Following their 2021 NBA Championship, the Bucks signed former All-Star power forward/center DeMarcus Cousins to a brief contract during the 2021-22 season. He appeared in 17 games for Milwaukee during his month with the franchise, averaging 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

And apparently, that month spent with the Bucks, and specifically Giannis, was enough to make Cousins an expert on the two-time NBA MVP. In a recent podcast appearance, Cousins said that be thinks the Greek Freak will, indeed, leave the Bucks someday… for the Chicago Bulls.

Boogie Cousins believes Giannis could leave Milwaukee if things don’t work out

“As his teammate I learned there’s always truth in his humor…if the Bucks don’t work out, I could absolutely see him in Chicago.”

The host states that she believed Giannis was going to be traded to the New York Knicks this year, and then asked Cousins if he thought there was ever a scenario in which he could see the Greek Freak leaving Milwaukee.

“Absolutely. One thing I learned about Giannis being his teammate is that there is always truth in his humor. And he’s a lot smarter than he likes to give. The things he say, there’s always truth in it. Always.

“So, uh, I could definitely see that being a thing that could happen. Especially if this experiment with Damian Lillard doesn’t go as planned. It was obvious he was ready to leave Milwaukee once before, before they won a Championship. So obviously, he can get to a place where he is ready to move on.

“If this thing doesn’t work out, I could definitely see him being in a Chicago-type situation. Absolutely.”

Cousins defended picking the Bulls as a preferred destination for Giannis because it is close to Milwaukee and the nine-time All-Star is comfortable in the Midwest.

One has to question, though, how well Cousins really knows Giannis after spending 17 games with him almost three years ago.
