Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokopunmpo kept himself busy this summer. One of the things he did was to work on his game — naturally — and he did that by hooking up with one of the greatest big men this game has ever seen in Hakeem Olajuwon.
Some rumors recently emerged that Olajuwon supposedly charged Giannis an insane amount for his services. The Bucks talisman has now broken his silence on these whispers as he clears the air on these overcharging rumors.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Reacts to Hakeem Olajuwon Rumors
Antetokoumpo started off by heaping praise on the Hall of Fame center. Giannis also made it abundantly clear that if Olajuwon charged him an insane amount of money for their workout, he would be more than willing to meet the legend’s price:
“Hakeem is one of the best players to ever play the game, we can never disrespect him in no shape or form,” Giannis said. “He’s probably Top 10 to ever play this game, if not the most skilled big who ever played this game. So if somebody like me … seek advise from one of the most skilled big man of all-time, and I have to pay a million dollars, I will pay a million dollars. But that’s not the case. In no shape or form did he tell me to pay.”
Giannis clarified, however, that Olajuwon did not charge him a single penny for their session. This was done out of mutual respect for each other and nothing more.
Antetokounmpo reiterated, though, that he would have been happy to write Olajuwon a check if the Houston Rockets icon billed him for their workout session:
“He takes time away from his kids, away form his home, away from the things he enjoys to kinda help you be better. And if he choose to charge you with money, it’s okay. there’s nothing wrong with that,” Giannis continued.
Such are the perks of being one of the best players in the game today, I guess.
