Milwaukee Bucks news: The Giannis Antetokounmpo doubters were loud and proud over the course of this past offseason. This is after the 28-year-old declared his intention to leave Milwaukee if he is no longer in a position to compete for a championship with the Bucks.
All of a sudden, Giannis emerged as a villain for some — an ungrateful brat who puts his own self-interest over that of his team. The naysayers definitely had a field day.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Message to Haters
Speaking a day after agreeing to a massive $186 million, three-year extension with the Bucks, Giannis sent out a special message to anyone and everyone who has and continues to doubt him:
“A lot of people don’t know me,” Giannis said, via Bally Sports Wisconsin. “A lot of people know me through things that they read, or they watch me on TV. A lot of people see what other players do and assume that I might do the same. But I’ll be very honest with you, I’ve done what I said I would do since Day 1. It hasn’t changed.
“I think that’s why God blesses me and puts me in a position to wake up every single day to do what I love. Now at the end of the day, I’m not going to be given a championship, but I have the opportunity. Some people don’t even have the opportunity to wake up (to) think about a championship, or think about going out there and competing on an NBA game.”
Giannis shut down all the talk about the supposed uncertainty surrounding his future with the Bucks by doing exactly what the doubters said that he wouldn’t. More than a few folks out there believed that Antetokounmpo was already plotting his Milwaukee exit. They fell flat on their face with their sensational conspiracy theories once Giannis put his signature on the dotted line.
“It’s okay that people don’t believe me,” he continued “A lot of people did not believe me growing up. That’s not gonna change. … The non-believers push me to the point (where) I am today.
“But they’re gonna be there. I’m gonna keep doing what I do. Keep on being me. Keep on trying to represent the city of Milwaukee the best way possible for as long as they want me here.”
Both the city of Milwaukee and the Bucks organization definitely want Giannis to be there. Not just now, but for a very long time ahead. Anteotkounmpo intends to repay them handsomely.
“Keep on doing me. I’m here. I want to be here. I want to win another one. And I hope I win another one,” Giannis declared.
