A lot of people want to know what Jimmy Butler must have felt after hearing about Damian Lillard’s shock move to the Milwaukee Bucks. All along, the Miami Heat appeared to be the frontrunner to land the seven-time All-Star, only for the Bucks to swoop in at the last minute to hijack the deal.
In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, Butler revealed his true feelings about this shocking turn of events.
Jimmy Butler’s Thoughts on New Milwaukee Bucks Duo
To be fair to Butler, the Heat superstar still kept it professional. He’s clearly disappointed that Miami failed in their bid to land Lillard, but for his part, Butler still had some good things to say about Dame and his new team:
“I am happy for Dame to be somewhere he’s wanted, where he has a chance to win a championship,” Butler said. “I’m also happy for Adrian Griffin because to be a first-year head coach and have some guys that you have, good for you.”
Be that as it may, Butler also made it abundantly clear that he’s going to do everything in his power to bring down Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the rest of the Bucks this coming season:
“But I’m still gonna be me. I’m gonna go beat Dame, Giannis, and Adrian Griffin on our way to a title,” Butler said. “Like I’ve said every single year. I mean it this year like I mean it every other year. The emotions, we gotta use that. We’ll go get it done.”
Jimmy Butler Was ‘Pissed Off’
In case you missed it, Butler is sporting a new hairstyle right now. Similar to how he busted out the dreads last summer, the Miami talisman has decided to sport a whole new do this time around. He says he’s in his emo stage right now, which he explained in detail to Rooks:
“I’m just emotional right now,” he said. “A lot have gone on in the past week with basketball.”
“… I was excited, and then angry, and then sad, and then excited again, and then pissed off, and then sad again. And now I’m excited. You just can’t tell because I’m not smiling. But I’m very happy.”

The pissed-off part was evidently clear when Butler accused the Bucks of tampering as soon as the Lillard news broke. Right now, though, it appears that Jimmy Buckets has moved on from this saga. As he said, he intends to use these emotions as fuel for the season ahead.
