More than a few Milwaukee Bucks fans have been heavily invested in Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the team throughout the summer. The fact that the seven-time All-Star sounded the alarm by stating his willingness to leave Milwaukee pretty much put the entire fanbase on edge.
This is exactly why supporters were able to breathe a collective sigh of relief once news hit on Monday night that Antetokounmpo had agreed to sign a contract extension with the team.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Truth Bomb on Milwaukee Bucks Contract

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Giannis shed some light on the thought process that went into his decision to sign his extension now as opposed to his previous indication that he intended to do so next summer. According to the former back-to-back MVP, he knows how much anxiety he brings to people, and this is exactly why he would like to do whatever he can to alleviate the same:
“I want to be here. There’s no secret in that. Everybody knows that,” he said. “… I stress a lot of people out. I don’t want to be the reason that a lot of people are stressed out because my life is really stressed out and I know how I feel. So if I can make it easier on the organization, my teammates, and put us in a better position to win a championship, heck yeah. Let’s do it.”

He literally took the entire offseason to make his decision, though. Giannis agreed to put pen to paper on a three-year extension worth $186 million less than 24 hours before the new season started. Up until Monday night, you could say that some fans were still having sleepless nights thinking about Antetokounmpo’s long-term future in Milwaukee.
What’s important, however, is that Giannis has now put his signature on the dotted line. He’s always said that he wanted to play out his career in Milwaukee, and while there is still no guarantee that this will happen, the fact that the former Defensive Player of the Year has now extended his stay for at least three more years is definitely a significant step toward this direction.
