Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been in his fair share of close games throughout his career. More often than not, the former back-to-back MVP is able to come out on top during these situations.
According to Giannis himself, it’s his elite mindset that allows him to find the extra push whenever the game calls for it.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Reflects on Close Games
Antetokounmpo revealed that he isn’t the type to pace himself. He goes all out on every single occasion, which quite frankly, doesn’t always work in his favor.
Nevertheless, Giannis has no intention of changing his style of play:
“I’m not the player that tries to save energy, try to kinda cheat the game,” Giannis said. “I don’t do that. If you cheat the game the game is going to cheat you. At the end of the day, I think you save more energy by putting teams away and rest in the fourth quarter. Ice your knees, and then come in [the locker room] taking a shower or whatever it’s going to be than going two overtime.”

The man has a point. Nevertheless, with the Bucks earning the reputation that they have through the years, it’s just a fact that opposing teams will come at them with their best shot every single night. This will demand more energy from Antetokounmpo, who at 29, isn’t getting any younger.
Perhaps Giannis will need to incorporate more energy-saving techniques somewhere down the road. But until then, don’t expect any type of shortcuts from this man.
