The Milwaukee Bucks ended the 2023-2024 season on a sour note by losing to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the NBA playoffs in six games. Milwaukee will reportedly open up the 2024-2025 season with a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 23, according to The Athletic’s Sham Charnia.
Both of these basketball teams had disappointing ends to the 2023-2024 season. Milwaukee was the third seed in the Eastern Conference last season and Philadelphia was the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference last year. The 76ers lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs last season in six games.
It will be a huge game for both teams to open up the NBA season. The Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers are both under pressure to win it all this season. However, the challenge will be can either of them knock off the Boston Celtics in a playoff series?
The Milwaukee Bucks Look For the 2024-2025 Season Against the Philadelphia 76ers
The Bucks did not get much younger this offseason. Milwaukee lost Patrick Beverly and Malik Beasley this offseason. The Milwaukee Bucks signed free agents Tauren Prince, Delon Wright, and Gary Trent Jr. Trent Jr. will most likely be in the starting lineup this year for the Bucks.
The other projected starters for the Milwaukee Bucks this season will be Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez. There were many trade rumors for Lopez this offseason, but they never traded him away.
During the NBA offseason, the Bucks drafted A.J. Johnson and Tyler Smith, but they most likely not be in the rotation this season. Milwaukee will have Bobby Portis back coming off the bench this season. Doc Rivers will be the head coach this year after they got rid of AJ Griffin Jr. during the middle of last season.
Philadelphia’s Look For the 2024-2025 Season
The 76ers are going to have a different look for the 2024-2025 season. Paul George was signed as a free agent in the offseason. He played with the Los Angeles Clippers last season. George will form a big three with him, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid. After that, do the 76ers have much depth outside of those three players?
Tobias Harris is always a streaky player for Philadelphia. Head coach Nick Nurse hopes to have a better regular season in 2024-2025. The Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks are both under pressure to perform this season.
