It’s clear to every Milwaukee Bucks fan that their team is not going to compete for the NBA title without Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak has been a vital cog to their success for the past five seasons, and they will be eager to fight anyone and everyone who would dare to talk trash about their star man.
However, everyone knows that people will have hot takes about a certain player that not everyone will like. This is exactly what Kevin Garnett did when he talked about Giannis as one of the top players in the Eastern Conference.
The one-time NBA champion made a bold declaration that the Greek Freak isn’t the best basketball athlete in the East, claiming that players such as Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum are better than him. He explained his take on a recent conversation with former Celtics teammate Paul Pierce:
“You can’t say that with Embiid over there. And with Jayson Tatum [too]. I’m not arguing that.
“He’s probably the fourth-best player in the East. [Are] you taking Giannis over Tatum? Are you taking him over Embiid?”

Bucks fans immediately took to social media to defend their star forward.

Other fans immediately compared Giannis to Embiid:

Another fan even went further and compared KG’s own playoff history with Giannis:

Fans will also argue that the stats tell a different story than what KG is pushing. Antetokounmpo finished the 2023-24 campaign with 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks.
To say that the Greek Freak doesn’t deserve to be in the top is ludicrous, and Bucks fans have every right to feel slighted by Garnett’s take.
