The Milwaukee Bucks have made a couple of minor moves of late. The team announced that they have signed guard James Akinjo and big man Liam Robbins. Eric Nehm of The Athletic also noted that both deals are Exhibit 10 contracts.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal that isn’t guaranteed but can include up to $75,000 if a player gets waived but manages to stay with the team’s G League affiliate for at least 60 days.
Akinjo is an intriguing addition to the Bucks. The former Baylor Bears star went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft but was signed that year by the New York Knicks to an Exhibit 10 contract. He never suited up in the NBA with the Knicks but played for the Westchester Knicks in the 2022-23 G League season. During that campaign, Akinjo averaged 14.9 points, 9.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 41.4 percent from behind the arc on 4.8 attempts from deep per contest, according to Basketball Reference.
Bucks make lowkey moves
The 6-1 Akinjo can be considered a long shot to make the regular roster of the Bucks, but he will still have an opportunity to show Milwaukee why he deserves a guaranteed contract, at the very least.
As for Robbins, the 7-foot center gets an opportunity in the NBA again after suffering a season-ending lower-body injury last January. Robbins is known for his rim protection, having averaged 2.4 blocks per game in college. He was a former SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
