The Milwaukee Bucks are going to be in the trade market at some point during the 2024-2025 NBA season. There may be a chance that they decide to trade Bobby Portis. He was rumored in many trades during the NBA offseason and general manager Jon Horst never traded him.
One team that might be looking to add additional help at the NBA trade deadline is the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are trying to win one more NBA title with Lebron James at the helm before he potentially retires from the NBA.
ESPN’s Shams Charnia Thinks That the Los Angeles Lakers Could Shop For a Big Man
Recently on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Shams Charnia made an appearance to talk about the Lakers. Charnia reported:
“The Lakers are actively looking for a big man to add to their lineup…They have assets and contracts to play with. I don’t think that they have fully targeted a name yet.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of players the Los Angeles Lakers are looking for at the NBA trade deadline. The Milwaukee Bucks could have a couple of players on the roster to potentially offer them.
Sporting News Suggests That the Los Angeles Lakers Trade For Milwaukee Bucks Forward/Center Bobby Portis
Sportingnews.com writer Donny Shea created a mock trade between the Lakers and the Bucks. He would have the Lakers getting Bobby Portis in a trade for Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, and one first-round pick. Shea said about this mock trade:
“This move would give the Bucks more options to play on the wing since Khris Middleton remains without a timeline for his return from injury. Reddish would also add to the team’s underwhelming athleticism. Vincent would give coach Doc Rivers another cromulent ballhandler behind Damian Lillard. Between him and Delon Wright, the backup point guard role would be covered. The first-round pick would be the most valuable piece for Milwaukee’s front office, as they own minimal future draft capital.
The Lakers would agree to this deal to land a big that they reportedly are in the market for. While Portis primarily plays the four, he could slide into the center position in times of need. However, Portis doesn’t offer much defensively in terms of rim protection. Portis would bring the Lakers another relatively reliable scorer along with much-needed size.”
The players on the Lakers roster who are not up for trade are Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Dalton Knecht, and Austin Reaves. Everyone else could be traded. As for the Milwaukee Bucks, only Giannis Antetokounmpo could be the only one who isn’t traded. Bobby Portis to the Lakers would be a great fit for them off the bench.
