Doc Rivers coached his second game for the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night in what was Damian Lillard’s homecoming to Portland. Unfortunately, the Bucks were unable to give their new coach his first win as the Portland Trail Blazers took Milwaukee down in a thriller, 119-116.
At this point, it appears that Rivers can use all the help he can get.
Milwaukee Bucks Sign Doc Rivers’ Former Coaching Associate
After adding Dave Joerger and Rex Kalamian to his coaching staff over the past few days, Rivers has brought in another fresh face to his coaching staff. According to Bucks team insider Eric Nehm of The Athletic, this comes in the form of former coaching associate Pete Dominguez:
“The Bucks have added Pete Dominguez to their coaching staff as an assistant coach, per a team source,” Nehm reported.
Nehm also added that Dominguez crossed paths with Rivers during the latter’s stint as the Los Angeles Clippers head coach. Dominguez served as the head video coordinator for the Clippers for a couple of years before he reunited with Rivers with the Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant coach.
Dominguez was on the Milwaukee bench on Wednesday night against Portland.
That’s now three external hires by Coach Doc, which likely puts the job security of Adrian Griffin’s former assistants in jeopardy. Rivers already said that he intends to evaluate the status of the coaching staff he inherited from the previous regime while also stating that changes are to be expected.
