Hall of Fame point guard Magic Johnson came out with a spicy take on Twitter after he learned about the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to fire Adrian Griffin. Let’s just say that the Los Angeles Lakers icon did not agree with Milwaukee’s decision to part ways with the rookie coach.
It didn’t take long for the Bucks to find Coach Griff’s successor with veteran shot-caller Doc Rivers stepping in to replace him. This decision is something Magic Johnson can get on board with.
Magic Johnson Calls Out Milwaukee Bucks Over Adrian Griffin Firing
Shortly after news broke surrounding Griffin’s dismissal, Johnson took to Twitter to share his brutally honest take on the unexpected turn of events. According to the five-time NBA champ, Griffin shouldn’t be blamed for the Bucks’ issues on the defensive end:
I think the Bucks firing former Head Coach Adrian Griffin was a big mistake. It’s not his fault the Bucks traded their best on-ball defender, Jrue Holiday. They are not a good defensive team and are all-around too slow.

Not too many people saw Griffin’s firing coming and clearly, Magic was one of those folks who were completely dumbstruck by the front office’s decision to kick their coach out barely half a season into his debut campaign.
As always, Johnson wasn’t shy about letting his true feelings known.
Magic Johnson Congratulates Doc Rivers
Johnson’s tone quickly changed the moment Doc Rivers was officially announced as Griffin’s successor in Milwaukee. Magic could not help but go on social media again to speak out on this major development as he congratulated his friend for securing his next coaching job.
The former three-time NBA MVP, however, also sent out a bit of a warning for the Bucks as he revealed what he expects Rivers will demand from them from Day 1:
I want to congratulate my friend, and one of the best to ever coach in the NBA, Doc Rivers for accepting the Milwaukee Bucks head coaching job! Doc is a World Champion so he will demand that the Bucks play hard, play good defense, and play well together.

The next few weeks will be a crucial period for Milwaukee and it appears that Magic will be keeping a keen eye on the developments within and around the squad.
