Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers is confident his team will meet the Boston Celtics somewhere down the road in the NBA playoffs. And by that time, he’s hoping his team is better equipped to take down the defending champions.
The Milwaukee Bucks have work to do because they’re on a two-game losing streak after a 111-105 defeat on Friday night, and they are on the wrong end of a regular season sweep against the Boston Celtics.
“We take that right now we’re in the game with them, but we haven’t beaten them and we do believe we have a big stretch that we’re going to get better,” Doc Rivers said via ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. “We’re going to get a lot better, and they will too a little bit, but we will a lot.”
“So, yeah, we hope to play them again in the playoffs in the late rounds, and we’ll see how it goes. But right now they’re the champs, and until someone beats them, they’re the champs,” he added.
The game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics felt like a playoff game because it was close throughout. Milwaukee had chances to win the game, but Boston executed better down the stretch.
Khris Middleton reacts to his season debut with the Milwaukee Bucks
The one positive the Milwaukee Bucks can take away from this game is Khris Middleton’s on-court return after a long injury layoff. The three-time NBA All-Star came off the bench and dropped 11 points, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals on 2-for-10 shooting from the field in 23 minutes of play.
This may not be the season debut Middleton wanted, but he believes better things are yet to come as he continues to play more games with Milwaukee this year.
“I’m not going to talk about moral victories and everything, but they’re a great team. We want to get back to where they were last year, and they’re trying to get back to where they were last year also. So it’s just about putting our best foot before and trying to be the best team. I’m not worried about anything else, really,” Middleton said.
