Milwaukee Bucks: Former NBA Draft Bust Clowned on Twitter for Audacious Damian Lillard Claim

All you’d have to do is look at Damian Lillard’s history to determine that he is one of the most dangerous offensive scorers this game has ever seen. He has been up to his usual antics now that he’s with the Milwaukee Bucks, too.

Last week, Dame drained his first-ever game-winner for the Bucks via a 32-foot triple at the buzzer to defeat the Sacramento Kings in overtime. He followed that one up with a season-high 45-point explosion on Saturday to life Milwaukee over the Detroit Pistons.

Dame has done enough in his career to have even his NBA peers left in awe by his greatness. This is exactly the case for former No. 2 overall pick Evan Turner, who also happens to be a former teammate of Dame’s during their time together with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Turner recently came across an old Dame Lillard highlight reel from several years ago. This was in 2020 when Lillard went on an insane six-game stretch where he averaged a mind-boggling 48.8 points. Turner had already retired at that point, but he still could not help but share his admiration for his former teammate:

This how I was supposed to hoop https://t.co/2MhnbRAlqJ

    — Evan Turner (@thekidet) January 20, 2024

The fans, however, took exception to Turner’s caption on his post.

To be fair to Evan Turner, he had a pretty respectable 10-year career in the NBA. He never became an All-Star or anything like that, but he was a noteworthy contributor to the teams he played for during his tenure as a professional.

However, if you consider how he was selected second overall in the 2010 NBA Draft, there’s no denying that he failed to live up to the lofty expectations we all had on him more than a decade ago.

The trolls on Twitter had no problem bringing this up as they clowned Turner for his claim that he was “supposed” to hoop at Lillard’s level:

Your agent got a bunch of GMs to believe!! You had your moments ET. Blazers legend 😁
