The Milwaukee Bucks were 10-0 this season when Damian Lillard scored 30 or more points in a game this season. That streak ended on Monday when Lillard scored 32 points against the New York Knicks on the road and lost 129-122 in a Christmas Day showdown.
Lillard struggled in the first quarter, but he got going after that. Damian Lillard shot 47.6 percent from the field and he also shot 30.8 percent from three-point land. He also grabbed one rebound, recorded eight assists, and recorded one steal. Lillard is one of those players that will be very streaky. He will be hot at one moment and he will be cold at another moment.
In the beginning, it looked like he was only going to score in the teens, but give him credit for trying to get into a groove of things. One of the reasons why they couldn’t win this time around was because the defense was horrendous and could not stop Jalen Brunson.
Lillard is not the defender that Jrue Holiday was for the Bucks last season and that could be one of the reasons why the defense has not been as good for them this season.
Damian Lillard Of the Milwaukee Bucks Has Scored 30 or More Points in the Last Three of Five Games
This is the third time in the past five games that he has scored 30 or more points in a game. The other two times recently Lillard featured that mark was 12/19 against the San Antonio Spurs scoring 40 points and 12/17 against the Houston Rockets with 39 points.
He could do this against any team, but it depends on how each game goes. This year, Lillard is averaging 26.2 PPG, which is ranked 12th in the NBA. He is one of the best scorers in the NBA and the Bucks felt like it was worth it gaining his offense for Jrue Holiday’s defense this past offseason. Lillard will continue to be in the headlines for scoring 30 or more points in NBA games.
