Over each of the past four seasons, the Milwaukee Bucks have had seven players who attempted 200 or more three-point shots in a season. The NBA record for most players on a team that attempted 200 or more three-pointers is eight. It is held by four different teams.
NBA record for most players to attempt 200+ threes for a team
The 2009-10 Orlando Magic was the first team to reach eight players with 200+ threes attempted in a season. They were followed by the 2016-17 Miami Heat, the 2018-19 Boston Celtics, and last year from the 2021-22 Magic.
Looking at the numbers through the Bucks’ first 45 games of the season, they could challenge that record… it’s a big if.
The Bucks already have two players with 200 or more threes attempted this season: Brook Lopez (222) and Jrue Holiday (214).
Add to those two another four Bucks players who already have 150 or more three-point attempts this season and should easily reach the 200-mark if they each stay healthy: Grayson Allen (191), Pat Connaughton (173), Jevon Carter (168), and Bobby Portis (159). That’s six Bucks who should reach and exceed 200 threes attempted. Now is where it gets interesting.
Rookie MarJon Beauchamp has attempted 105 threes and is on pace for a season with 226 attempts. Giannis Antetokounmpo has 102 three-point attempts and is on a pace that would put him at around 210. That would give the Bucks eight players with 200+ three-point attempts and a tie for the record.
Joe Ingles and Jordan Nwora are the Milwaukee Bucks dark horses
There are two dark horses who could reach 200 or more threes for the season: Jordan Nwora has attempted 92 so far this season and is on a pace for 198 if he plays in all the 47 remaining games. The other dark horse is Joe Ingles. He has fired up 63 threes in 13 games. If he stays healthy and keeps this pace, his three-point attempts could reach over 240 for the season. If Nwora and Ingles each reach 200, and the others do as well, that would give the Bucks 10 players with 200 or more three-point attempts for the season… a new NBA record.
There is still a lot of the season to be played and you never know how injuries will affect rotations, etc.
What about Khris Middleton?
Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned Khris Middleton. He has 41 three-point attempts in seven games played, an average of almost six per game. He could easily reach 200 threes attempted if he plays 25-30 of the remaining 37 games.
Stay tuned.
