Not many casual NBA fans would consider the Milwaukee Bucks as heavy favorites to win a second Larry O’Brien trophy in the Giannis Antetokounmpo era.
While they will cede that the team is a terrifying matchup for the rest of the teams in the association, they’re not favored to make it out of the Eastern Conference. The average fan would look at their offseason acquisitions and the quality of their coaching staff before dismissing them as the likeliest contender out of the East.

However, the most dedicated Bucks fan would argue that not many changes are necessary to turn the Bucks into serious contenders for the NBA title. The quality of the roster they’ve built over the season is more than enough to warrant a serious conversation about them as contenders.
One of the team’s co-owners echoed the sentiments, saying that the upcoming season promises exciting times for Wisconsinite basketball fans.
Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Jamie Dinan excited over team’s shape ahead of 2024-25 campaign

FOX6 Milwaukee’s Lily Zhao interviewed Bucks co-owner Jamie Dinan to talk shop about the Bucks. She asked him about his projections for the team, and his answer revealed the heavy expectations he has for the squad:
“You know Lily, what I’m really excited about is the team is healthy,” said Jamie Dinan, Bucks co-owner. “I think we heard Doc talk about how in great shape Khris is, for example. Giannis is recovered, Dame is recovered. We’ve got a couple of new people on the team, Gary Trent Jr, played almost the whole season last year in Toronto. Got Taurean Prince, same thing, played almost every game with the Lakers last year. I think we’ve got some really good additions; we’ve got the core back together healthy. We got a really good team.”
Dinan’s focus on the current roster’s availability shows how much he trusts the roster’s quality moving forward. Bucks fans will remember how the team limped out of the 2024 postseason due to injury. Still, everyone will argue that the season would have played out differently if Giannis, Dame, and the rest of the Milwaukee roster played at full strength.
Middleton will be a key figure, and fans will hope he’ll stay healthy long enough to make positive contributions. Moreover, Damian Lillard vowed to improve on his disappointing debut campaign for the Bucks.

Should everything work out and no player gets sidelined with injury, Milwaukee Bucks fans can expect their team to make a deep postseason run reminiscent of their epic 2021 championship win.
