The player ratings in the NBA 2K25 have already been released, including those of Milwaukee Bucks stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Antetokounmpo appeared to be disappointed by his rating even though it’s tied with Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks for the highest among all players. Many also think that Lillard’s rating is unfairly low.
Another Bucks player who seems to have an issue with his 2K rating is big man Bobby Portis, who needs an explanation as to why his rating dropped.
“Peeped the 2k ratings @NBA2K @Ronnie2K lol no way I got worse,” Portis posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Portis’ rating for the newest version of the popular video game is 80. It’s not terrible, but it’s indeed lower than his grade of 82 in 2K24. He also had an 80 rating in 2K23. For what it’s worth, Portis has rated 80 or better in each of the last five NBA 2K iterations, including this year’s. He’s significantly improved in that area since having a rating of 74 in NBA 2K16.
Bobby Portis saw some of his numbers drop in 2023-24
For what it’s worth, Portis had a 4.7 win shares in the 2023-24 season — lower than his 5.4 win shares a season before. While that’s not a be-all and end-all stat to determine a player’s performance in a given season, it still paints a good picture and provides some context. He also averaged fewer points (13.8 points) and rebounds (7.4 rebounds) in the 2023-24 season compared to what he had in the 2022-23 campaign (14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds).
Nevertheless, Portis is expected to be an impact player for Milwaukee, especially coming off the bench. He finished third in the Sixth Man of the Year voting in each of the last two seasons.
