Ever since the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA championship back in 2021, every other franchise has been deeply analyzing the reason for their success. That Bucks team was the antithesis of the “super team” model that has taken hold of the NBA since Lebron left Cleveland the first time. The 2021 Bucks showed the world you didn’t need three super max contracts on the books to compete.
Celtics Hire Charles Lee
The Celtics made a move today in an attempt to capture some of that Milwaukee Magic. They went out and got Charles Lee, Milwaukee’s associate head coach. The job opening he is filling in Boston is the lead assistant coach position. There must have been something that Lee really liked about Boston as he was also a finalist for the Houston and Detroit head coaching jobs. The writing was on the wall for Lee ever since Mike Budenholzer got fired a little over a month ago. Charles Lee was a close disciple of Budenholzer, coaching with him in Atlanta from 2014 to 2018. Once Budenholzer was canned it was only a matter of time before Lee was out the door as well. Good luck to Charles in his new endeavor. Let’s just hope his luck isn’t too good out in Boston.
